For the Tate Britain Commission 2026, Zineb Sedira transformed the Duveen Galleries into When Words Fall Silent, Cinema Speaks…, an immersive installation on the activist cinema of 1960s and 70s Algeria, curated by Jessica Vaughan with Celeste McEvoy. KitMapper specified, supplied and installed the AV for its three moving-image works, working on site alongside the Tate team.
In the North Duveen, Narration in Motion is projected from a 1960s French van reimagined as a Ciné Pop. A Barco projector hidden in a Hantarex box on the roof throws the film onto a canvas screen, a lamp inside a prop 35mm projector completes the illusion, and the playback rack sits in the boot with the speakers behind the screen.
For the recreated cinema, a large Newline screen is built into the red wall, with a 2.1 sound system and playback hidden behind it for When Cinema Speaks. Sedira's customised Scopitone plays excerpts from Agnès Varda's Salut les Cubains from a screen and speakers housed inside the cabinet.
Every work runs on scheduled BrightSign or Mac mini playback, with a backup player ready and audio presets for everyday, private view and press levels. KitMapper wrote the handover guide for Tate staff and returns for maintenance visits through the run, which continues until 17 January 2027.
