Shirin Neshat's The Fury is a two-channel film installation, shown at Goodman Gallery in Mayfair in autumn 2023 with the two films facing each other from opposite ends of the gallery.
Goodman Gallery asked KitMapper to fabricate and install the work. In our workshop we built two 4.6 × 2.59m projection screens from plywood L-beams, test fitted them, and stretched them with Opera White front projection fabric, chosen for its even, hot-spot free diffusion. We also made six 800 × 1600mm acoustic panels, filled with sheep's wool insulation and wrapped in acoustically transparent Camira Cara fabric matched to the gallery's grey.
A crew of six, a production manager with AV, fabrication and installation technicians, hung the screens, projectors and panels on the first day and lined up and mapped the image to the screens on the second. Playback runs on two 13K Panasonic projectors with short-throw lenses and two networked BrightSign players in sync, with four Martin Audio CDD5 speakers. We prepared and tested the synchronised files at KitMapper before the install.
During the exhibition we also provided live AV and sound recording for a talk between Neshat and the author and journalist Farah Nayeri.
