NONOTAK, the duo of Noemi Schipfer and Takami Nakamoto, presented Eclipse with Lumen Studios at Ugly Duck in Bermondsey from August to December 2024. The exhibition ran across three rooms: the existing work Highway and two new pieces, Dual and Hidden Shadows.
KitMapper was principal contractor for the build and install, from 16 to 29 August. We built and dressed the rooms, with fabric walls, paint and carpet, and installed the systems for each work. Highway runs 412 GarageCube LED bars, around 25,000 individually addressed LEDs, through Enttec Storm 24 Art-Net nodes from a Mac mini, with d&b audiotechnik sound. Dual uses 66 Eurolite TMH B90 moving heads on truss with haze and a Martin Audio system. Hidden Shadows pairs a 5 × 3m, 1.9mm LED wall from our own stock with eight Martin Atomic 3000 LED strobes and d&b audiotechnik speakers.
With electrical engineers HPES we planned a three-phase power distribution balanced across the three rooms. Through the run we maintained the show, swapping LED panels and moving heads as needed, and left a handover pack with patch lists, power maps and how-to videos for switching the audio and video sources.
