M.C. Escher occupies an unusual place in visual culture: an artist who sits slightly outside the official canon yet is lodged deep in the imagination of generations of students, designers, architects, mathematicians and anyone who enjoys having their sense of reality gently broken. M.C. Escher: The Exhibition at Somerset House gives his work the space to do exactly that.
KitMapper worked across the AV, graphics and lighting for the show — a fitting brief for an artist whose work is built on precision, illusion and the careful arrangement of perception. The exhibition is full of images that ask you to look again, and then again, and the installation is designed to let visitors do so.
The Guardian awarded the exhibition a rare five stars and named it exhibition of the week:
A rich retrospective of Escher’s prints, with video, music and installations adding to the fun.

M.C. Escher: The Exhibition runs at Somerset House until 6 September.
