KitMapper is thrilled to have supported Souvenir at The Fitzrovia Chapel – a beautifully atmospheric exhibition that uses sound, storytelling and site-specific installation to turn one of London's most extraordinary interiors into a living memory. Curated by the chapel's inaugural Curators-in-Residence, (and our old friends!) Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, Souvenir draws on strategies of filmmaking and storytelling, pulling from literature, performance, music, visual arts, craft & design and it feels totally at home in the Chapel's glimmering, Byzantine-inspired space.
At its heart is Michael Bracewell's eulogy to late-1970s/early-1980s London, brought to life through a recorded sound work voiced by Paul Kaye, with a new composition by Sarah Nicolls (including her celebrated Inside-Out Piano installed before the marble altar). Alongside this are contributions from Matthew Healey and Sal Pittman, creating an experience that's immersive, cinematic, and quietly haunting.
Behind the scenes, we've loved collaborating with the brilliant team to help the work land in the space as intended, supporting the audio delivery so visitors can fully sink into the shifting textures of voice, music and atmosphere. (Special shout to the wider sound team from Arup helping shape the sonic experience.)
If you're in London, go and spend some time with it. There are some really exciting future shows on the way this year in the same beautiful space, from the same incredible team!
